2018: The Bookening!

As a bit of January housekeeping, I decided to work out which of the books I own I have actually read. Turns out I have 138 books in my flat, but have only read 41 of them!

My unfailingly wise daughter suggested I curb my addiction. So, I am banned from buying any new books until I’ve read the ones I own. After all, she pointed out, she has read almost every book on her shelf multiple times.

It’s actually a great idea, and an exciting one. Going through my shelves I was remembering the excitement I felt first seeing these books (up to 10 years ago!) and now I’ll finally get to actually read them!

Here’s virtual version of my mini-library, for the curious…

  1. Wow, 87 books before you are allowed to buy any new ones? That’s tough!! But a good goal to have, I try to curb my ‘unread but owned’ pile whenever it gets out of hand. I think if I had that many to read though I’d have to allow myself a special ‘one new book’ allowance so I would be able to purchase at least one shiny new read per year, otherwise it would be too hard ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. Actually it’s 97! ๐Ÿ˜ฅ

Luckily I got a Boo Books voucher for xmas, which counted as a ‘cheat’ since I wasn’t spending any money, so I got three new books that way. Plus you sent me one! ๐Ÿ˜€

      1. Haha that shows how good my math skills are ๐Ÿ˜‚

True, if vouchers donโ€™t count you do have a little bit of a โ€˜cheatโ€™ option if you feel like a new book or two! Iโ€™m glad I could contribute to the cheating a bit as well ๐Ÿ˜Š
But still, best of luck whittling Down that unread pile – I hope you find some favourites in the process!
